You now have 4 days to reject a suggested edit to your Google listing

Anyone can suggest a change to your listing. If nobody on your side looks within four days, Google may publish it.

Google help page update

What changed

Google added a section to its help page about suggested edits. Once you are notified that someone suggested a change to your profile, you have four days to accept or reject it. If you do nothing, Google may publish the edit when other public information, such as your own website, supports it. Google also says some edits can be applied without review.

What it means for your business

Customers, competitors and Google's own systems can suggest changes to your hours, phone number, address, website, category and even your business name. Four days is not long, especially for an owner who is on jobs all week and only checks email on Sunday.

The part about your website matters too. If your website still lists old hours or an old phone number, Google can treat that as support for a wrong edit. Keeping your website and your profile saying the same thing is now a form of protection.

Turn on email notifications for your Business Profile, and make sure they go to an inbox someone actually reads.

What we do for clients

Our weekly profile check looks for suggested edits and changes Google has made, and we flag anything that does not match the business before the window closes. We also check that each client's website shows the same hours, phone and service area as the profile.
