What changed
Google is testing a new home for Business Profiles called Google Business Home. It connects your Business Profile, Merchant Center, YouTube and Google Ads accounts in one dashboard, with screens for posts, reviews, performance, locations, a brand kit and a content tool.
Google's help page describes it as a closed beta for select business categories in the US and the UK, and says it is built with Gemini models. Over time Google says it will suggest next steps, such as spotting a jump in demand and recommending a seasonal offer.
What it means for your business
Most local service businesses will not have access yet, and nothing about how you rank on Google Maps changes because of it. The bigger signal is where Google is heading: one place where Google's AI looks at your profile, your reviews and your ads together and tells you what to do next.
That makes the basics more important, not less. Suggestions are only as good as the profile they are based on. A profile with the wrong primary category, a thin services list or a stale photo set will get generic advice.
What we do for clients
We keep each client's profile complete and current every week, so whatever Google's tools look at is accurate. When Business Home reaches a client's account, we will review its suggestions with them before acting on any of them, the same way every change to a client profile is approved first.
